Genesis 1:2

Genesis 1:2

"Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters."

I feel pressure to say something about this verse.

Mostly because I said a few days ago that I am going to read through the Bible and write down my thoughts, so I think that if I do not write anything about the second verse and just skip on to the 14th verse of chapter 4 and say something really pithy about that particular verse  someone might think "Hey, he is not reading the whole thing, he is just reading the parts where he has something pithy to to say."

And I cannot handle that sort of judgment.

That is  not true. (mostly not true – I do think that because of my performance and acceptance issues I will possibly be drawn to the passages where I can be easily witty or insightful) But I promise even if I am not writing anything about a particular verse (or perhaps even chapter) I am indeed reading them.

This is sort of the honor system of blogging.

Which I guess is OK cause the Bible seems to be pretty big on the honor system.

Enough of my over-sharing….back to verse 2. When I read this, I think of one of those "inspirational – you can do it" posters with a picture of a lake covered in fog with a hint of a sunrise coming.

Except in this case I also picture the Spirit of God doing some hovering around this foggy lake on a Holy Jet Ski.

Which I know is a terribly mixed up image. But that is why I am doing this whole thing in the first place.

To get a little context on God.
