Dothan (but the Bible one, not the Alabama one)

In Genesis 37:17 Joseph (he with the coat of many colors) goes to find his brothers who are tending their sheep near “Dothan.” Of all the names in the Bible, I wonder why did someone in E.A. (Early Alabama) pick an obscure reference from Genesis to name their town Dothan.
